How unsafe are Dark Empaths? Narcissists and psychopaths who have empathy

Individuals with what is known as “dark personality traits” like psychopathy or narcissism are much more likely to be indifferent, unsettled, and confrontational. Such traits reside on a spectrum: we all have some of them, however this does not always indicate that you may have a personality disorder. Individuals  who appear to have many of the dark qualities are often assumed to lack empathy, making them more dangerous and violent than the rest of us. However, we have discovered evidence that calls this theory into question. According to studies, a subset of people with dark traits have above-average emphatic ability; we call them dark empaths.

Psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and narcissism are examples of dark personality qualities known as the “dark trio.” Sadism has lately been proposed as an addition, culminating in a “dark tetrad.” The superficial charm and callousness that characterises psychopathy. People with these characteristics frequently lead irregular lives and engage in antisocial activities. Niccol Machiavelli, a Renaissance novelist, historian, and philosopher, founded Machiavellianism. Crime. Thus, Machiavellianism alludes to a temperament that is predatory, unscrupulous, and manipulating. Narcissism is defined by an overwhelming sense of entitlement, superiority, and grandiose thinking, whereas sadism is defined by an inclination to inflict suffering on others and enjoy it. Psychopathy and Machiavellianism, in particular, have been repeatedly linked to violent and antisocial conduct.

Empathy may also relate to the ability to share feelings, which is referred to as “affective empathy” (if you’re sad, I’m sad too). However, it may also involve the ability to comprehend other people’s ideas, known as “cognitive empathy” (I understand what you’re feeling and why you’re upset). A lack of (particularly affective) empathy, for instance, has been a well-documented feature of clinical psychopathy, and is used to explain their frequently continuous instrumentally violent behaviour. A lack of empathy is the root cause of persons with dark features hurting others or having difficulty in relationships.
